Alan and MelissaFamily Waiting to Adopt
Hello! We are Alan and Melissa
Everything that Alan, Carter, and Melissa had been through was meant to lead them to this realization. Now, the hope is something that their whole family has come to understand. We desire an open adoption because we believe that there are parents out there whose own path is leading them straight to our family.

We want to tell you our story.
Melissa never meant to stay in Redmond. When she first arrived in the little town, it was for a job. She planned to get work experience and then move on to other adventures which she assumed could only happened in big cities. Love interrupted those plans. Melissa met Alan the old-fashioned way at the 7th Street Pub. She would go there because she didn’t know anyone and Alan was a regular at the same spot. They were always friendly without truly speaking to one another. Until one day, they reached a point where each other’s faces had grown welcomingly familiar, and on a slow night, by chance, they started speaking. They were both were comfortable in their singleness. But, a connection ignited between them. They started dating immediately, and then got married in a wonderful two-day celebration, surrounded by friends and family.
Alan and Melissa both come from family-oriented backgrounds and wanted to recreate that energy in their own home. Alan is one of those men who truly desired to be a father and is practically born for the role. Melissa lights up when children are present and wanted so badly to become a mother. They started trying to get pregnant immediately. It took some time but eventually it came to past, and though it wasn’t an easy pregnancy they were blessed with their son Carter. He is now 5 and a sociable little guy who loves dinosaurs and asks lots of questions.
The new parents didn’t want to have too much space between children so they started trying again. This second attempt was not an easy time. For 4 years, we were unable to conceive naturally. It was an emotionally overwhelming time for Melissa. It fell on Alan to take care of everything and everyone. Looking back at that time, it’s his heroic love and strength that shines through the darkness of that time. It brought the family closer than ever before, the hard times rebuilt the three into something unique.
After this time, a single thought sprouted into an encompassing truth within their hearts. They were going to adopt. It was not a passing whim or an afterthought, it was hope. Everything that Alan, Carter, and Melissa had been through was meant to lead them to this realization. Now, the hope is something that their whole family has come to understand. We desire an open adoption because we believe that there are parents out there whose own path is leading them straight to our family. Our 5-year old, Carter, tells anyone holding a baby that “God is still working on our baby.” We have already made our choice. Now we are waiting patiently, for another family to share a life-long destiny with us.
Throughout our book you will learn more about the us. Alan is a District Sales Manager in the telecommunications field and Melissa currently works in Finance but will become a full-time mommy when we welcome another child into our family. We have many passions in life. We love to be outside in the summers; camping, fishing and going on Family Adventures. We are both huge Oregon Football fans and season ticket holders. We love spending fall days cheering on our team! We are both silly and serious, adventurous and homebodies, content and yet waiting to grow. We want you to see our family for who we are and who we will be. Most importantly, we look forward to meeting your family and joining in a life-long relationship. No matter where you are, we are praying for you during this time of decision.
